Rice & Beans Ministries

Rice & Beans Ministries exists simply to share the love of Jesus with the people of Costa Rica (and beyond). My connection to their work runs deep: RABMIN's founder, Fred Curry, first spotted me leading worship at a Mississippi conference years ago, and through a mutual friend — my own pastor — brought me down to lead music at one of his camps. That trip became a friendship, and the friendship has taken me back to Costa Rica again and again: to serve, to lead worship, and to tell RABMIN's story on camera.
This video came from one of those trips — roughly 48 hours on the ground, shooting with only the gear I could fit in a carry-on camera bag. The project had two goals: show that senior citizen volunteers are capable and genuinely welcome on RABMIN work sites, and show the breadth of the need in Costa Rica. The volunteers made the first case themselves — a team of seniors tying rebar and building foundation cages, joking that the tasks are "simple enough that even we are able to master them." And they made the second case too, in quieter moments: describing homes where three families share a small house, and parents who feed the children first "and then do what they can."
I traveled, shot, and handled all post-production myself, and RABMIN puts the finished piece to work where it counts — in their fundraising and across their social channels. It's always a humbling experience to share the work of Rice & Beans Ministries. Learn more at rabmin.org.
