Aimee Nezhukumatathil
Audio Book
This is easily one of my favorite projects I've worked on. Aimee Nezhukumatathil's World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments came out in 2020 and promptly gathered the kind of accolades most books never see: New York Times bestseller, Barnes & Noble Book of the Year, NPR Best Book of 2020, and a long list besides.
The audiobook happened because of a pandemic and a friendship. Aimee is a member of Oxford University UMC, where we'd worked together before on church video projects — and when her publisher offered their recording studio for the audiobook, traveling during COVID wasn't something she wanted to do. So she asked if she could record with me instead. We sat down for a test read on a couple of different microphones, sent it to her producer, and the publisher signed off on the quality. A national release, recorded in Oxford.
Over multiple recording days, I engineered the sessions while her publisher's audiobook director called in remotely to guide the read. Afterward, I managed the full library of session files — organized, prepped, and delivered to the publisher's specs for post-production and release.
Aimee, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful book.
